I went for an Argentine Tango course today at Jalan Besar Town Council. I couldn't take a picture of the whole place but this is part of the place..one 'corner'. The place is really nice, as you can see, they took away the roof part, left it like that. It gives the place a really different kind of feeling. And tables and chairs surrounding the huge dance floor. Dim lights hang on the sides, enough light to see everything but yet dim enough to give u a really cosy feeling. A little kitchen in the front, to provide some food. Left corner is an area to try n buy Tango shoes.
The couple is from Beunos Aires, the birthplace of Argentine Tango. It's my first time ever at such courses. There are also many other dance courses around, where professionals, usually the ex world champions of watever kind of dances; latin, ballrooms would drop by S'pore to share or teach ..but of cos..u got to pay lar. Anyway, it's my first time ever in such courses. I feel alittle apprehensive at 1st cos im sure everyone else who will b present are like frequent dancers. Im just a newbie lor. True enuff, many pple have been dancing Argentine Tango socially for many years, and they have been attending Argentine Tango workshops here n there, so some pple actually know each other. But everyone has been friendly and kind. I quickly caught up with them. The lady instructor was really nice, going thru with every one of us properly on the techniques, pointing out our mistakes. Sometimes i felt like im taking a test, bcos they really will ask u to dance solo for them to see, and they pick out your mistakes, make u do again etc...
ANyway that was a really good experience, good dancing experience and also a multicultural one. There were a few ang mohs, and chinese who obviously grew up in some ang moh countries...so was really interesting..
Then i went off to Orchard to meet Deying for last min shopping. Thankful that Deying was around to shop with me today.
I really really really wish, hope, pray that i can get a job that can send me overseas. Whatever form it may be, be it just short trips or long trips like months, i dont' care. Just please send me. I need to see the world. I need to not accept that my life is one that is bound to here. By Nov 16th, i'm free from the bondage of the 3 year tuition loan that i'm under now. I would be able to technically say leave this country without a singapore-based company recruiting me. sighz.
I do want very much to go somewhere!!!
It was Waitat's church wedding yesterday.Albert and i have been invited. I just can't believe he's married. Just simply cannot believe it. Thinking back to his days of bachelorhood, and eventual relationship with his gf (wife now) and now married...time really flies. WE have all grown up. Watching his wedding makes me feel like getting married too. haha.. I'm so happy for him. =)
