So beautiful......(http://liek.deviantart.com/)
How abt a life near a beach? A relaxing, stressless life along the beach. Aka beach boys? How abt a life in a country where you won't be treated likea 2nd citizen? Less stressful and live like a mini king?
Why MUZ we climb this corporate ladder? Y muz we stay in singapore and subject ourselves to all the stressful lifestyle? Y stay here with all these pple overflooding the land soon? I mean seriously why are we doing wat we are doing?
Wat if i could change the path of my life, totally different from the kind of life that ive grown to know?
Why do we think that this sort of stressful life is the kind we shd be leading and never ever consider that we actually DON'T have to live such a life. Well..that's if you could take the sort of too peaceful life at the beach. But yes it will be peaceful. Life won't b this hard. At least you enjoy wat u want to do. Wat a life. But.....how can i live with juz sea and sand?! I need to shop!...........
This weekend will b relatively unexciting compared to some of the previous ones i had. Cos ..i'm too exhausted, drained by all the activities and entertaining. It's time to just hit the bed and sleep n sleep and sleep and sleep.
Friday nite. Swimming at xh's condo then walking over to her old apartment to stay over with some frens. Oh i need more sleep :~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* MIA for a while*
I really don't feel like blogging.
Alot of things i wanted to blog about but i don feel like it.
Well let's juz talk abt the dances.
Belly dancing was really fun. 2 teachers and 1 of their student were there. The student is slim and quite pretty. They each performed for us but i like the student alot, mayb cos she's slim haha. But oh man...i feel that belly dancing has that mysterious aura that makes you feel very attracted to it wihtout you realising it. It's so graceful yet powerful. It's so sexy that i would expect all the middle east men to fall in love with the women dancing. Then we were told by them that in ancient times, belly dancing is danced infront of women, between women. Of course they were there for weddings..and when a gal goes to labour...u get the drift. And to know that it's danced for women to see onli, makes it even appealing to me. Bcos the fact is you could celebrate your figures without feeling ashame of it. You don't need guys to tell u that u look gd. In fact belly dancing makes u feel real gd. Bcos in this belly dancing world, there's no need to suck in ur tummy, tuck down your butt, point your toes. And they rejoice in having a tummy. The dancing is relaxed, like i said u don have to suck in the tummies, tuck ur butt down, wherease in many other dancing these are the tings u have to constantly remember. I rem i used to b scolded by my dancing teacher for letting my tummy out instead of sucking it in. You don even have to point your toes! Nice powerful sexy hip sways without having to be so stiff! It makes you accept your body figure and belly dancing is not abt how fat u are or how slim u are but whether you could 'present' the movements, even if ur fat you still look gd dancing it. I walked out of the place feeling so proud of my body like i never had been b4.
Lindy hop was exhausting. So i had leg aches for the next 2 days. Onli vanessa and richard turned up, xiaohui oculdn't wake up. So we were there from 9 to 11.30 learning the dance steps, solo and partner dances. It was really fun to get a taste of lindy hop. I think it's too tiring for me. Lindy hop is fast paced and the moves aren't that graceful. But was fun. Realy fun.
After that we went assumption english school to teach kids lindy hop. Well it's not really teaching. The kids, actually teenagers and some in their mid 20s..from MINDS, they are mentally disabled. So the idea was to let them have fun, basically just asking them to do some funnie stuffs and let them play. It's my 1st time interacting with this group of pple, i hardly have any knowlesdge abt them. It's kinda sad when i look at them. But they are a bunch of happie pple! They have their own sense of humor and likes to show off their talents haha. There were some kids there who really have some serious problems such that they don even respond to what we ask them to do. Anyway mi n van didn't teach them, richard was quite enthu with kids so he was the one..:D
that's all. Got photos down there..pls scroll down..
|

Hahah!! At esplanade. I was trying to take a photo of all of us but my hand is too short and now the pic looked like i'm the princess and everyone else behind were there juz to make mi look betta. :p
|

Xiaohui,me,Richard and Vanessa. Finally we got the shot right. Nobody's faces are too big.
|

Xiaohui =) She doesn't like taking pics much.
|

My baby!! haha..kidding. He's currently my favorite cat model downstairs cos he's so guai. This is definetely not the 1st time he has let mi photograph him, and not the 1st time he has kept mi company while i'm alone downstairs. That day, i couldn't take the isolation in lab and away from the sun anymore. I went for a short walk downstairs, basking in watever that's left of the evening sun. And cat model was there waiting for mi. He's as big as my rabbit, no..rather...my rabbit is as big as him.
|

Very generous of him to show me his big yawn. Aww.
|

haha this is such a JOKE! The souveniors we got from chinatown. Most left is made by vanessa, middle is xiaohui's and right with JY inscription is mine. A walked pass this guy with a stall selling all the carved statues watever and hew as making an ancient chinese warrior and offered to teach us, which was pretty fun but invited a crowd and it was kinda embarrassing. He even gave vanessa's hand that sign...saying it's Ru Lai Shen Zhang..lucky mine don have haha if i'll cry!

* Events of the day *
Event of the day of wednesday goes to .....*drum roll...* BELLY DANCING WORKSHOP!!!
I can't believe we are going to do THIS. Vanessa has a belly dancing workshop thingie from her fren so xiaohui and i are going along!! It's free ..of cos. if not we won't be going :p And i still can't believe we are juz going to do it! Oh the excitement is killing me. Actually i'm not that into belly dancing. But we could give it a try. And who knows..it may become the love of my life (especially omg the lovely clothes and trinklets...let mi have them!!)
Xiaohui and Vanessa really have all the strings to pull for all these stuffs. Notice that my life has become so much more interesting when i get closer to her. *breathes a brand new me brand new life*
EVent on sat:
Lindyhop leanring session at YMCA and organised by lindyhop ensemble. After that u teach it to the kids at a camp. It's free. That's y we are going haha.
But the whole thing would start from 9-6pm...which means a bloody long day. But i'm quite excited!

Salsa. I couldn't find better pictures.Think latin, think cuban..
|

Lindyhop. And amazing stunts these pple do..i don think i'll ever b like that.
|

Oh the swinging era! We might be learning lindy hop this weekend! And then teaching the kids for some charity on the same day..organised by the YMCA, lindy hop ensemble.
|

An old picture of Jazz dancing. Well juz to give ur a betta picture of it.It's definetely sexy in a jazzy way. Hhaha..
|

And jazz is what i wanna be learning b4 itake up salsa since yicai's leg won't recovered fully till months later and he promised he would take salsa with mi. Jazz dancing is also known as stage dancing in the past. So a reason y i wanna do jazz dancing is i wan to relive that feeling of stage dancing. It's a different kind of dance, unlike ballroom dancing..unlike swings(like lindy hops..)
|

When it comes to belly dancing, it's that mysterious middle east culture n costumes that intrigue us. But this is obviously an angmoh posing...
Thank you all for taking your time n patience to finish looking at the different dances that mattered to me.
Dancing is something that i missed doing. No not clubbing dances..not those..wat i wan is the discipline of it, of doing it. Something like ballet, lots of discipline. Actually all dances need all the discipline and controlled body movements. I missed it. To provide some information abt my life. I was dancing back in secondary sch..the rigid trainings..the leg splits and stuff. I wanted to get back to dancing..minus the leg split..haha.
Anyway, in response to jennifer's feedback..i think i would b doing something to this blog layout soon. No time leh..
And i enjoyed myself over the weekends. Saturday went chinatown with deying, xiaohui and vanessa. I felt like quite a tourist myself. Cos the backgrd of my story goes...that long long time ago when i was s till a kid, chinatown used to b my parents' favourite hangout that they have to go EVERY weekends. Such that i began to dislike chinatown. And then yrs after that, chinatown underwent some major facelift, and it was horrible, construction everywhere, so hot n humid, so much pple that i kept myself away from this place that onli my parents love going. So besides areas ard people's park complex i'm quite unfamilar with the rest of chinatown. So we went to the streetmarket. Watched a belly dancing perfomace put up my many different CCs..and many fat women baring their fats. But the teacher had a solo performance and it was great! Think xiaohui is interested to take belly dancing haha
Sunday spent on hseworks and going out with yicai to catch mr n mrs smith. The show was great! Not much of a plot if u ask mi..but the acting is great, and the fightings are really funnie. Juz some things couples could identify with except that we don go out n kill each other literally.

* I'm normal *
When the whole world thinks ur wrong doesn't mean you are wrong. When the whole world thinks you are weird/abnormal, you may not be the one who is weird or abnormal.
Haha..i don mean anything. I'm juz talking nonsense. I'm feeling much betta and i attribute it to the lack of isolation now. Juz when i revealed how depressed i am, God turned the situation around(finally!!) and gave mi lots of users to (fan/pester) be around and each of them i held a comfortable period of chitchatting with. And then i feel so much betta!
One user even actually out of the blue commented,' i juz realised there's no windows in your lab, this is not gd' And woah i was like HEY u feel the 'effect' too!! And then the next moment she carried on,' You must tell your boss to do something. The chemicals will not do u gd if you are couped up her with them for long period of time' I almost told her that's not wat i'm concerned with. I'm concerned with being suffocated to death by this overglowing gloominess due to fact that we deprieved some sunshine!!
To tell you how much sun have a 'happy' effect on us human..it juz happened that my lab and boss's other 2 labs are in the same side of the building which means no windows. We have a pantry with big long windows that allow you to watch the skies without straining your eyes. So i was going into the pantry to top up hot( yes hot not warm mind u..this lab is a bloody cold north pole) water. So after i'm done with it, i caught a glimpse of the window while i was about to leave. And like magnet being pulled over, i juz got attracted by the sunshine out there! It felt so bloody gd! I wish i'm out there basking under the warm sun. I can't believe i'm even saying this. I'm really quite deprieved. Then i stood there lost in my wonderful tots of warm sunshine then i have to go back, back to my blardy cold lab. Really. U have no idea how cold this place is. I donoe y they wan to blast the aircon here..sobz. I'm wearing a long sleeve top for days..and with that u feel VERY cold still, so i'll have to put on another jacket. And then i still feel cold. So today i brought along a very thick jacket, suitable for travelling to slightly colder countries. Next i may consider bringing thermal wear bcos i'm s till not feelng warm. Now i'm quite warm n nice bcos i've put on my jacket and my lab coat. As if the cold is not cold enuff..boss sent mi to the cold room to find something this morning. I didn't wear my lab coat too lazy. Armed with my jacket and remember my long sleeve top i went into the bloody bloody cold COLD room. The cold room is kept at -4 degree celcius. So imagine u working into ur fridge. Mayb on a hot day u feel great with the fridge door opened towards you. But ..seriously..being inside there..and all the fan plus donoe wat to keep the temp low blowing at u it's quite unbearable. UR jeans immediately feel the cold. So i was there searching n searching for 5 mins for a thing that couldn't be found and i decided i shd get the hell out of here, bcos my hands are getting alittle numb.
Think my fingers have gone thru pretty harsh temperature change such that it's getting quite tolerant towards hot n cold. We have a machine called cyrostat. u have to stick ur hands inside this chamber to section the frozen tissue at -20 degree celsius so can u imagine that ur hands go numb most of the time and thats how i didn't even know i cut myself with the blade.
Then we have a HUGE -80 degree celcius fridge. To put all kinds of chemicals rubbish that needs to b stored there. And there is no space for mi/my lab/my users' stuffs so i put my users' samples in a small transpapen plastic bag and stuffed it at one corner so that i can easily locate it the next time. It's so cold that most of the fridge is filled with ice it's v difficult to look for things. And then the other boss's lab throw my plastic bag ard, everytime i go n look for it it's at some different position than it was the last time round! Once i couldn't find it. I searched all over that section, my hands were totally numbed so i had to try to 'feel' wat i was searching for as i can see the the deeper end of the fridge. It was so horrible bcos my hands were so cold that it hurt and i had to bring my hands out once in a while incase it got frozen and drop off..ok i'm kidding. But it's really painful. Then finally found that darn plastic bag and i was super unhappy that i can't even have some space for my lab n users. I removed my lab gloves and taddaaa 10 swollen red fingers staring at mi and i couldn't feel a thing~ and then it was juz pure pain. It took half an hr for the whole thing to go away. And undoubtedly i was very pissed. I swear i'm gonna get a box so that i have a space for my lab in that darn fridge.
And the nworking with that wax machine requires mi to touch metal blocks that have been raised up to like 70 degree celcius? holding it for 2 seconds burns ur fingers equivalent to burning ur fingers when u touch a boiling pot. So yeah now i have really thick skinned fingers to protect mi from the hot. how nice u know.

*Depressed*
Well yeah i'm quite depressed. Not over relationship but over work. It's the same old feeling of insecurity, stress and isolation. Prob this lab life doesn't suit mi. But it's a sheltered life.
Most pple do not understand how stressful it is to be able to be so slack at work u know. U donoe the different kind of pain i go thru. It's so aimless. So meaningless. I once said we humans need motivation to keep on moving in life. When u were studying, your motivation is the exams, whther you bothered about exams or not, the truth is we align our lives for exams. Once you graduate, u suddenly lost your 'aim' in your life. If u give mi 3 mths off,ask me to do wat i want, i may find this sort of life too boring. So i say we need to work. To accomplish something. TO know and feel that you are somehow important, to feeel useful, to feel your worth in this society and this world. And look at mi, i've felt UNIMPORTANT for months. Ok the users need mi and all that, no doubt i've touched many users' life, made many friends, i'm always the one they turn to, big or small matters. BUT when they do not need mi, then wat am i here for?? PLus things are not going that well..everything i do does not proceed on smoothly and i'm responsible for their tissue samples. I hate this sort of responsibilities. Its suffocating. It's not that i can't take stress well, it's the feeling that i'm useless makes mi depressed. I need to have some motivation. Neeed to have some aim..like working towards my masters! It's so hard to bum ard. The insecurities u feel...bcos i've not done anything much to impress my boss as there is nothing much to do, it's the insecurities that i may get laid off anytime when i screw up things (it's nothing big tho). That kind of stress!! And then when u bum ard too much but yet so isolated, u have millions of one tots in ur head going on n on n on..one moment i told myself oh yesh that user is coming later i have to prepare this n that...and the very next moment i 4gotten it as new tots flood my brain. And this is how i screwed up. Do you understand? I gez onli pple who are working in an isolated environment understand. Cos i told my friend who used to work night shift in a company's lab..he said he always feel like that too. And then in nus now he's bumming ard too, and he feels the same insecurities. Hai...
Don envy us bummers...we envy you.
Meanwhile, the newborn mice has been dehydrated and now looked like mummified bodies with a horrible stench, and i'm trying to embedd them in wax for sectioning later and keeps screwing up.....headache..........everyday got new prob to solve blah!

* Everything is bad *
...................................Sunday......................................
I'm gonna start complaining. I feel as if i'm being betrayed again n again by some pple. And bcos it's a bloody blog that everyone can read now or in the future i cannot complain abt them. I shall then complain abt my mom.
Apparently, my aunt n uncle came to visit on sunday. I was around. My mom was relating this FRUSTRATING day where she almost went mad bcos of the amount of rabbit fur all over the place and she called my aunt to complain but she wasn't around. My mom wanted to ask my aunt to get my cousin, Hsiaolin to advise mi to give up the rabbit. BOY i was boiling mad when i heard her RELATING TAT FRUSTRATING incident. WHY?!! Bcos i wasn't the one shd complained to abt MY OWN problem. Bcos i'm not the onli one to know. AND BCOS i knew it onli cos she wanted to complain to my aunt! And she purposely or unintentionally i wnt know, chose to reveal this frustating incident INFRONT of me so that she lets mi know she's v unhappy abt it also. OMG isn't that scheming? And she complained n complained. Brought out the broom that she used to sweep the kitchen floor to show my aunt how much fur there are in the kitchen. I mean ok u made ur pt.Do u have to keep harping abt it ..infront of relatives somemore?!
I was boiling mad. No we didn't quarrel, that's y i was even more mad. I swallowed every shit in and chewed on it. I was brewing the whole day until i think i shd get myself out of this hse if not i'm not gonna let it rest without a fight.
Richard has invited us to laupasat for a Elvis fan singing thingie...so Xiaohui, vanessa and i went. It was quite..erm interested. The pple singing consisted of old folks. But their singing are really really gd, an evidence of wat karaoke singing can do to you after a few yrs. Richard was there cos his colleague is singing. The songs were great but most of them are not Elvis's songs...some other rock n roll songs of that era, n oh boy i don even know most of the songs. It was quite funi whenever the folks dance. It's hilarious but you could see that they were enjoying themselves sooo much that u can't help feeling happie too. There was a bunch of angmohs sitting beside us, who seemed to b making frens with lots of pple there, including us but they didn't really talk to us. haha. I think we need more of such friendliness amongst the locals. And wouldn't it be great if our culture supports dancing? Even old couples dance..wouldn't that b sexy and so interesting. I know i would b so happie. At least u don have to go to studios to dance or clubs to dance, u dance anywhere..everywhere..there was once i watched discovery travels channel and i remembered so vividly the scene..it was in argentina i think. Tango is like their favorite. It's part of the culture. U could dance it real seriously, vigorous but you could also dance it causally. And they showed a couple who juz started dancing tango (slow one) in the evening juz off the side of a street...and they looked so in love, so immersed in their own little dance. wouldn't it nice if we have something like that. Y are asians so conservative with their body movements..
Then we walked to esplanade..chat alittle. Took some silly pics and i'll upload them soon.
....................................MONDAY...................................
In the meantime i'm screwing up my work due to my fanstastic short memories. I think i see myself looking so dreamy everyday. I have no idea wat my brain is doing most of the time. I seemed so disconnected. I'm not going to tell ur wat i screwed up..minor stuffs..but questionable when it involves my professionalism and reputation. This is sad. I think my colleagues are having a bad impression of mi. MY appraisal is going down the drain man.
On a different note i think when research involve animals it's really sad. I haven't felt this sad for a long time. I gez i've become alittle numb. Today a new user brought in 5 (dead) newborn mice and some organs(judging from size they belonged to adult mice). Usually the stuffs that come to my hands are just organs. I've seen embryos ( and they r really quite cute ..) but newborn mice it's the 1st. On the tube that each mice was put inside, soaked with fixation chemicals, were labelled 1st mouse,2nd..so on..and the time it was born. My assumption is 5 newborns were from the same mother. So let's imagine, a mother mouse, pregnant for 21 days or so ( cos hamster's pregnancy is 21 days, mouse and hamster is ard the same that's how i know) and then gave birth, in a span of a few hrs she would have 5 healthy babies to feed, to protect, her mother instinct taking over. BUT sadly i would imagine as the 1st baby is born, he would have been taken away and killed( i do not know how they had killed them) and one by one over the few hrs all dead as they are born. Their eyes are still unopened, ears not developed. They juz remind mi of my baby hamsters! This is so sad. Gez life is really cheap. If u call them life at all. Mayb we would feel betta cos it's not really a life. I donoe wat i'm saying man.
The next step, process the organs in a machine to prepare for later sectioning. So i processed the mice. Tomoro we would b able to embed the 'organs' in wax block and section them anytime. This is the scarry part. These pple who brought the 'organs' do not have experience in ANYTHING so that means i have to teach! God!! Can u imagine sectioning the mice up?!!! I don wan to do it!! :(

*Mixed Feelings*
Well today is the day that we have been waiting and planning for since a long time ago. A yr ago we were still contemplating the possibilty of my brother skipping his NS, but that would mean giving him is PR so he prob has to settle elsewhere out of singapore since s'pore won't give him back his PR status easily. So he might need to go back to m'sia or mayb go Aust to study and settle down there. I gez he's reluctant to do his NS...but he doesn't have a choice cos we obviously do not have the money to send him elsewhere and he grew up here, it's asking him to leave everything behind and start his life elsewhere.
So a yr later, he's going in. And as much as i admit that it's gd riddance, the last day he was still a free man (which was last nite..) reminded me of many memories- bad ones i suppose. I really hate this NS thing. Hated it, but learnt to accept it unfortunately bcos i've been thru 2 men's NS days. And i remembered the relunctance and helplessness as they were recruited in. The anxiety, the unknown, the pinnings...the hope that these 2 yrs and a half would pass by quickly, the frustrating military system..nothing but painful memories i gez. It's not even me who's in this whole army shit. I gez his gf would feel the same pain. NVM like they always say...TWO years will pass very fast. By then i would be....hmm..25 years old. OMG!
Check this out. It's for pple like mi who has a great hp, which can do almost everything except having a FM radio. Now this looks fashionable enuff.http://www.nokia.com.sg/nokia/0,,74201,00.html

Calm waters. Pls look down for more pics
|

I tot the scene looks really romantic..that's Richard n xiaohui, who grew tired of waiting for mi and Vanessa cos we were busy checking out things..
|

Looks like Heaven on Earth. Feels like Heaven on Earth..but we are onli in erm..Macritchie..
Looks nice rite the water? I don wish to spoil the whole thing but it's green n dreamily milky only bcos it's overgrown with algae down there. I won't wan to b down at the 'beautiful' lake :D
I was trying to do my big NO 1 in the toilet the other nite but the experience was disrupted by a kid crying and screaming his head off in his toilet. The toilets faces each other u see..so if any idiot wishes to sing while bathing everyone can hear from the kitchen or the toilet. OR if anyone voimited or sneeze or argues...yep. It's a very kaypoh neighboourhood not that we want to but cos of the close proximity. The poor kid was crying non-stop and frankly speaking it was alittle heart-wrenching after sometime. As much as i think kids are trouble than treasure or how much i rather love animals than kids..i found myself wanting to reach out to that poor kid and sayang him. SO THAT HE WOULD SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET MI SHIT IN PEACE. It's so bloody irritating. To make it worse, the mom came along (notice my ears are totally tuned towards wat's happening out there instead of minding my own business..) and started shouting and demanding the boy," Why are u crying?!!!" The boy continued crying nonstop still, and the mom screamed even more hysterically at him, " tell mi wat are you crying?!! Wat's there to cry abt?!" Man..i seriously don't understand wat's going on. This poor kid is crying. And obviously he's crying bcos he's upset abt something..so y are u still screaming at him?! And i think she hit him after that cos for a short 1 min there wasn't any crying juz the mom screaming. I was contemplating if i shd call the police for child abuse..
So i spent the rest of the time bathing thinking abt how shitty it would b if im a parent. How i would b so frustrated with my kid and my husband would prob be sitting behind drinking or watching tv or surfing the net or playing Playstation if it's still popular by then while i have to discipline OUR kid MYSELF, and then out of the blue the guy would shoot something like," aiyah y u scolding him...y u always scold him ..he's a kid..blah blah blah" Oh so now i'm wrong..mayb the mom felt like that. I think i'm so unprepared for such things and i'm aldy hmm22yrs old? So i foresee myself unmarried even after 28 yrs old. Oh boy..and i really.......don like kids...yesh they are adorable..they are wat a family can't do without, fun and laughter and noise..BUT omg..the number of sleepless nites u got to go thru for the rest of ur live for them! As if i haven't have enuff things on my hand to live for, it's always for someone else.
I realised i'm such a whiny bitch. Whine n whine. Never ever seem to b able to take anything that the world throws at mi with stride..i don see half my frens whining over adulthood or jobs or having to support their families. Oh well..............oh yeah the macritchie treetop photos i took with my hp instead of richard's cam is http://sg.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/kholynn82/album?.dir=f573&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//sg.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos
I mus say it's really not bad. I'm impressed with my hp once again.
Btw, i went to Ikea with Deying. Thankfully she drove. Cos i got a nice coffee table and a lamp to put on it so that i can put them at my nuaing area in my room so that i can read. That blew $53 off my pocket. Everytime i go ikea i can't control myself. I'll def buy some rubbish back. Now it's an expensive rubbish. Not v lar..but still. I bought it without tot, didn't check out the thing properly..and of cos my mom wasn't v impressed with my buys haha..so now i've put that beside my wall and taken up part of Angel's usual nuaing spot. HE wasn't very happie abt it. Poor thing.

* I'm being praised*
It is time for mi to HAOLIAN that i've been praised, not once, but twice, not by locals but by mainland chinese that..I SPEAK GOOD MANDARIN, and in their exact words it's pu(2) tong(1)hua(4)!! Now how can i not haolian abt it rite?!!
In a more humble note, they must have met a big bunch of locals who can't speak mandarin properly..not that i'm THAT good but i'm not too bad. omg i'm high up in the sky.
1st guy who told mi that i was quite surprised. So being polite n alittle shy, i thanked him and said,' no lar, it's my mom who taught me well.' Wat a classic line. But it's the absolute truth.
Besides grooming herself to be a future wonder-woman, my mom has also found time to learn mandarin, and thus passing her wonderful mandarin to her daughter. The thing is mom never learnt nor spoke mandarin till she was in her secondary school? At home she communicated in Fuzhou. Government schools then taught everything in malay. But she was very interested so she went on to learn chinese on herself, taught herself how to read even. And her mandarin is perfect. You won't know that she taught herself the language. Years later she even had to taught her daughter how to write chinese in pri sch when she herself couldn't write but able to recognise words. I think my mom is really amazing. Back from where i came from, Kuching that is, the mandarin pple spoke are not very heavily accented, unlike their western msian counterparts.
So now comes the haolian part. Since i've been speaking mandarin n mandarin everyday bcos of the huge no of mainland chinese that i entertain..i've learnt a number of cool words, i'll put them up for entertaining purposes..cos i was quite amused back then when i learnt the words too.
Liquid nitrogen : Ye (4) Dan (4) / and i would have said..liquid nitrogen as liquid nitrogen

If i rem i'll put more up next time for educational purposes :p. It's not enuff to know some things, u muz know how to speak like them, express things the way they do. Next time if i have the time i'll type it out for ur.
Oh btw i managed to catch Kingdom of heaven yesterday......at home.......from deying's pirated dvd. Quality not bad ah. As for the film itself. I was quite disappointed that it was not as gd as i tot. And i was so confused cos i didn't know the history behind it. Seldom u hear mi talk abt being disappointed when it comes to ancient history warfare. But yeah i was. So sad!
Since someone has aldy gave a very gd critic of the show i shall cut n paste his blog entry here to save the trouble of mi trying to use my limited vocab to describe how i feel abt the show. ANd everything he wrote was wat i felt was true. I hope he won't mind me doing this... His blog is http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=ne0mesis
And since i'm at the topic of the big screen, I finally caught my long overdue Kingdom of heaven last sat. now there's something call delay gratification and I surmised I would come out from the cinema totally sastified after such a long wait to catch the show. after two and half hours, I came out from the threatre entertained nevertheless but with bagfuls of disappointment too; not at all eager to galvanize a fight against the ah-mats. perhaps the only saving grace for the show i can give is the sincere warfare scott put up. Character development was just really really poor. i didn't know a blacksmith can wield a sword as good as he is with his hammer and horse-rings and that liam neeson's high-guard and low guard difference makes him an ultimate muslim killer. The movie was decent long for an epoch but many things left unexplained and seemingly too fast-forwarded. a good part should explain how bloom buttress the almost impeneratable fortess and his brillant strategies. if that had to be left out, then they really should not bother to explain that the city's defence "had been done as good as it is". totally placid attempt to explain how they erected the catapults overnight. i'm not quite confident of the accuracy of measurements back in 1811 but quasi-admiral bloom's screaming the contact distance of the marching armada really sounded like I'm watching some surmarine warfare show. and finally, somebody please feel sorry for the little boy who got slapped out of so many who kneeled before bloom.
bottom line? ask me anytime which epic shows that will have me picking up a sword and shield? Bring me Gladiator and Troy. Kingdom of heaven, except for the entertaining bloody war fight that we have put up since Mel Gibson's Braveheart, Ridley Scott barely excaped scott free.

You don't stop loving someone; you only get used to living without them there . . . . .
Stumbled across someone's blog and saw that...
I can't help feeling that it's so true.
Sighzz..

It's the 4 of us once again! After a long long time.
Qingli. Taken at Sakae sushi. She and jen treated us to a buffet dinner.

Jen and xiaoying
Yups i'm definetely digging out some old photos cos i realised i haven't been uploading them.
Have ur seen the treetop walk photos yet?
To tell the truth, i think my life is in a mess now. My rabbit juz bit a hole in my mom's couch and i'm feeling rather sian. I can foresee some more whoohaas...i muz do something to stop him from biting boohoo..
And then i'm sure u all know wat a turmoil my life has been recently in a certain area. I really wish not to elaborate. And when shit happens and u hurt like mad? There's only one way left..that is to turn to God to make the hurt go away.
'Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him..' Psalms 37:7
One day while i was hurting like mad, a fren of mine, a m'sian with such powerful chinese was praising God with his chim chinese as his msn nick. And i tot hey praising God in Chinese actually sound even so much nicer. So being silly ol me, i want a chinese nick too.
And the nick has given me strength to go on even when i think i can't anymore, for more than 2 weeks and i'm still using it as my msn nick. A simple nick. Simple chinese. But it carried so much weight of mine.
我的慈爱的天父,陪伴我走过每一天。
And he said it's a very nice nick haha. If u can't read it then too bad lor. =)
tata going home!

*Get moving*
I know i promised photos of the Macritchie's Treetop walk. BUT i was trying to do a multiblog thing so that you could see all the photos on my blog. Obviously i failed to have it done and that's y i can see lots of question marks on your heads regarding what i'm talking now. Anyway i gave up trying to put up the photos and since Richard has uploaded the pics on his yahoo album..let's do it the lazy way!!
http://sg.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/nugraha_richard/album?.dir=/87da&.src=ph&.tok=phL.HEDBztOy7YPy
Hee..
I'm beginning to feel alittle sad. That my hp's camera is not as gd as a 1.3 megapixel hp ..duh. The realisation of it hit me when i saw how great the photos turned out for this guy's photos. http://robertclark.americanphotomag.com/flash/ Mayb it doesn't matter whether your camera is THAT good or not, give a normal camera to a professional photographer and he can do magic with the photos. Give mi the most expensive and sophisticated camera around and i can still end up taking shitty photos. I'm so upset. Robert Clark is a professional photographer who has photos published in national geo to Times..and he's travelling around US, taking photos and sending them to his moblog(mobile blog) online. And taadaa..check out his works. So yeah i'm a little upset with how nice the photos turned out for him, the colours so bright and rich, bcos he used Sony Erricson's S710a booohoooo! My once glorious nokia 7610 is going down!!! boohoo
<-------------- Monday's ---------------->
I had my jc class gathering at my class teacher's (Mdm Esther Leow) house. I don't remember having a jc class gathering b4, i think was pretty informal then or my memory had failed mi. I really was dreading it. I was not really close to the class, and i even hated the boys then. But surprisely and shockingly, when i reached there and saw the guys, memories flooded my brain. I remembered what i've 4gotten for thep ast 4 yrs. The past friendships, the past happenings b/w some of them and me...hey i used to b quite close to this n this...and i actually omg..4got abt it.
Anyway turned out well. I'm happy to see everyone who is present. It's been 4 yrs +. Everyone has changed, and for the betta which is the impt thing. The guys are still studying. One is a pilot aldy...omg! Most of the gals juz graduated cos 4 yrs course. So xiaoying and i were the onli one who has graduated and somemore for a yr aldy. The question i dread most was wat am i working as now. BCos being a lab officer definetely doesn't sound THAT flattering. They think i'm a lab tech. Well...spared them the details of wat i do and saved my breath explaining that i'm really not a lab tech.
It's such an amazing thing. We started off on the same foot, same ground, same education backgrd. We were homogenous. Similar. But all of us went seperate ways and it's really amusing that in a gathering, we have many engineers-to-be, engineers, pilot, an architect, a psychologist, accountants-to-be...an 4 yrs + back we were all classmates, doing same things together! Now everyone is doing something different. Taking our own paths. Mayb years down the road, we would b dishing out namecards to everyone at a class gathering. How time changes pple.
And then they talked abt the tchers who taught us. And believe mi..there were/are many teachers who were so damn happening..total oddballs in ACJC. We talked abt the culture shock when we all were studying in that old sch of ours..with everything in such lousy conditions! With labs where our benches were in such solid condition that it withstood 20+ yrs of vandalising by students and when it came to us, we added more acids and watever rubbish to the stupid benches. The big hole in the classroom wall so big that a person could walk thru. So many so many things. Man.those were the days...gd memories..wat a joke the sch was..and yet we were happie there.
And the most shocking thing was..when Esther leow told us that ACJC IS RANKED 4TH THIS YR!!!!! OMG ... I mean come on!! ACJC??!! 4th?!?!!!! I bet it's less fun being in the sch now. haha. Enzheng(class rep) said that his fren got 10 points..applied to arts and got rejected. WOW...WOW!! ok ok enuff enuff..haha
So slept pretty late that nite obviously. Man..i'm like awake for more than 24 hrs and asleep for less than 7 hrs..Time is deifnetely not enuff for mi to use.
<--------------Tuesday-------------->
Die lor. SO tired. I've skipped pilates for 2 weeks how am i going to catch up. Mind u i didn't have time/too lazy to practice at home. Dreaded going for it after work. But i still dragged myself over and hey i muz pat myself on the back and say i don regret going at all. It's great workout. Altho it still feels like a total torture but it was a great workout. Feel so much healthier somehow. It's not psychological. It's in your breathing.U feel so much more relaxed, worked the impossible muscles and all. Usually my legs would ache and wobble like a jelly, but hey i'm fine man! A little aches but other than that i could do everything without feeling like an old lady. WOW.
So tired.
