* A brief history lesson *
This morning itwas raining heavily. So i couldn't b bothered to drag myself out of bed hee. So i was late again. So wat do i do? I took my own sweet time to get downstairs and flagged a cab down...again. So i got into the cab. I saw the partial side view of the taxi driver as he turned to ask me where i'm going. And i tot he's familar. Have i been in his cab b4? The my eyes moved to what he hang on the mirror. THAT thing he hang had intrigued mi for days after i laid my eyes on it for the 1st time i was in his cab. Yeah today was the 2nd time in the same cab. Apparently he remembered mi too and my destination. No second idiot would go such a short distance and somemore to faculty of medicine rite? I gez it's not difficult to remember me. Too bad he didn't offer to fetch mi to work everyday at a discounted price.Anyway below his mirror hang a perculiar beautiful horseshoe shaped silver, pretty big, the size of a palm, on the horseshoe sat 3 blue turkish evil eyes, at the end of the horseshoes hang 2 more small blue evil eyes. 1st time i sat in his cab, my eyes were transfixed to the evil eyes..how beautiful it was..how the whole thing looks rather magical. I'm sure by using my wide knowledge of watching national geo and discovery channels for years could pinpoint the origin of the thing he hang. I thought long and hard. I wanted to just ask him where did he get it? Tibet? No it doesn't look like it's from Tibet. Middle East? India? Egypt? It can't be..Nah i gave up. But somehow somehow i've seen it b4 ..where was it where was it..Then recently..i remembered it's from Turkey. Today i stepped into the cab again and it struck me that is muz b the Turkish blue eye. Then a random check on the net confirmed my doubts..it is also know as the evil eye. And the eyes are made of glass..no wonder they are so nice. I found out that not only turkish believe in the evil eye..many other middle eastern countries too..even south americans and even feng shui. It wards off evil obviously rite? If not he won't b hanging it on his cab. To give u an idea of wat an evil eye is ..
But of cos his was on a beautiful silver horseshoe, which i discovered it's quite common bcos horseshoe evil eyes were used to put on herds like donkeys, horses to ward them off the 'envious' eyes(or rather simply put, evil sipirits)of others. His was much more beautiful than this..
For better understanding of such an interesting thing, i've looked at some websites for a brief history of it and its uses..

If ur interested to take a look at a evil eye personally, there's a stall in centrept shopping centre( when u enter the entrance instead of left to robinson, go right) I've seen a turkish stall set up there selling beautiful evil eyes. IF u admire the beauty of it..not the meaning attached to it.
The Egyptians also have an evil eye belief. It's the eye of Horus.Still used today to ward off evil. Especially seen on a ship or boat where they would draw the eye of Horus onto the side of the boat.

I got to admit, i was so amused with the eye of horus that i used to draw it in my textbooks or work books every now and then when i was bored in school. That was hmm secondary sch i think.
Talking abt egyptian symbol, i had loved the symbol of life, also known as a ankh alot. I even had a pendant of the symbol, which looked juz like the pic.
I bought it, bcos i loved it. And knew the
meaning behind it. It's beautiful. In those days if you knew me, you would know that i rarely take down my cross pendant and put up anything else. Bcos i wanted the cross to be with me everywhere i go. To put down the cross and put on something else which is for accessorising purpose, it's so yuck. I never ever allowed the ankh to share a necklace with my cross nor have i even worn it on my neck b4. I wore it for a long time on my anklet haha. And xiaohui also had the same pendant, she wore it on her neck with another pendant? She used to find it amusing that i've put such a 'highly respected 'religious symbol on my feet instead :p haha.
Oh well..sometimes personal interests clashes with your faith? Wat to do? Any way,I'm not obsessed with their religion, i'm obsessed with only one thing and that one thing is called, 'History'. So under History, i'm obsessed with ancient egyptian history. And then ancient chinese history and many others, bcos they are soso so so fascinating!
At one time i wanted to be an archeaologist? IF even betta an egyptian specialist u know. But then thinking of how i would have to be digging and out in the sun or under the ground, i think it suits men more. I should have studied history and be a historian mayb.
Did i mention that animal planet is searching for pple to sign up with them for a conservation thingie?The pple selected would have a chance to have hands-on experience with animals in wildlife reserves. Juz apply online. U know wat i did?I went to apply for it . I was filling up the form at their site till i came to this section where they mentioned that they need us to be commited for erm........6 weeks?!! There's no where i can keep my present job with a six weeks absence. To do something absoutely out of this world or to keep my iron bowl? Hai..then i gave up lar. I'm nuts. To think i actually wanted to sign up for it. www.animalplanetasia.com/team
I've uploaded friday's zouk fashion show night out picutures under 'thoughts'. Pls go take a look.Thank you for reading the whole chunk of rubbish today. Ur cooperation would be greatly rewarded....haha..
