* Some books to die for *
I don actually think i have the time to sit down and read a book and without falling asleep as well. But i've got some books i've been wanting to borrow/ buy- more like borrow cos im running low on cash.
Fiction and non-fiction
1st up: 1421: The Year that China discovered America
This book has been out for a yr at least. Always wanted to read it but the thickness and price of it made mi think twice. It has been played as a documentary on discovery channel. So the chinese actually discovered America like 100 yrs (roughly..i can't rem the exact) b4 columbus did. And not to mention the chinese had a quite detailed and very accurate MAP OF THE WORLD. I mean who is columbus man...Tat was in the Ming dynasty and b4 the next emperor decided to call back all the explorers and ships and shut China out from the rest of the world. A friendly chat with Linda's bf over at my boss's BBQ revoked my interest in this book. Bcos he said one of the 'evidence' that the author gave to 'prove' that China was there 1st was that the Red Indians actually have chinese heritage..as in they had chinese blood in them. The chinese went in...happily spread their sperms all over and taadaaa u get some Indians who have alittle of chinese features..i mean it's like more than 700 yrs aldy..genes get spread out, diffused isn't now. How he managed to prove that they had chinese heritage, i've no idea. But according to the bf, this kinda made the author search for the truth lar...and i remember seeing the HUGE map of the world drawn by the chinese then on tv...it's really impressive. Ain't chinese smarty arses?
2nd up: A long way round by Ewan mcgregor and someone else.
U read it right. It's Ewan mcgregor the actor. This book written by them, chronicled their amazing adventure through Europe, mongolia,Alaska and then back to America, on their bikes. And lots of photos in the book. I juz love this sort of adventure. I wish i can do it myself. But 1st i'm not a guy it's less convenient and much more dangerous. 2ndly i don have the cash. 3rdly..i'm still a gal. 4thly, i don have the guts.
3rd: A short history of everything by bill bryson. I know nothing of it except that it's got a nice title and it's recommended by pervert so i think shd b gd. I trust my gd old pervert. HOw abt that huh pervert?Awww...And if u know mi well, i kinda judge a book by its cover. So if the title is nice i'll pick up the book. If the book cover is nice i'll borrow it.
4th: Girl with the pearl earring. I want to read it cos the movie adapted from it was recommended for donoe wat awards..it juz seemed nice.
5th: Married to Mozart. A storytelling approach to historical figure by exploring historical facts n letters. Mozart and his relationship with this 4 sisters. Interesting.
6th : The girl in white. Some penguin classic i think. I've read the 1st 2 chapters or so online. Think i shall juz borrow the book.
7th:Life of Pi.........erm...............well............cos it's got a nice cover.
